Peace of Mind for the Future

Plan Ahead with Confidence & Support

Planning your own funeral in advance is one of the most thoughtful decisions you can make for your family. At Dignity Funeral Care, we offer a clear, respectful process that allows you to make your wishes known and ensure costs are covered, bringing you true peace of mind.

Our experienced staff will meet with you in confidence, either in your home, at one of our funeral homes, or by phone, whichever suits you best. Together, we’ll outline the type of service you’d like, from burial or cremation preferences to details such as transport, music, announcements, and flowers.

Once your preferences are recorded, you’ll receive a proposal based on today’s pricing. You can then choose one of two payment options:

Dignity Funeral Care - Funeral Directors in Portumna & Loughrea, County Galway

Option A: Funeral Deposit Account

You may lodge the full amount into an interest-bearing Deposit Account with your preferred bank, building society or post office. The purpose of the account should be clearly stated: for funeral expenses. When the time comes, we will carry out your plan and invoice your financial institution directly.

To keep the plan in line with inflation, we recommend checking in annually to see if prices have changed. A small top-up to your account may be advised each year.

Option B: Prepay in Full at Today’s Prices

You may also choose to prepay the full funeral cost now. In this case, Dignity Funeral Care will enter into a contract with you and assume the risk of future price increases. This ensures that your agreed services will be delivered at no additional cost to your estate or family.

Funeral Pre-Planning FAQ’s

Why should I pre-plan my funeral?2025-08-26T19:36:53+00:00

Pre-planning ensures your wishes are known and reduces the emotional and financial burden on your family at an already difficult time. It allows you to have control over your arrangements and manage costs in advance.

Will my preferences be legally binding?2025-08-26T19:38:10+00:00

While not legally binding, your written plan serves as a clear and trusted record. At Dignity Funeral Care, we treat all such plans with full commitment and will follow your instructions as agreed.

Can I change my mind later?2025-08-26T19:38:39+00:00

Yes. You can update your plan at any stage. We encourage clients to review their arrangements with us periodically in case of life changes or personal preferences.

What if I move to a different part of Ireland?2025-08-26T19:39:10+00:00

We will work with you to review the plan and, where possible, transfer arrangements to a local funeral provider or continue serving you depending on location.

How secure is the deposit account?2025-08-26T19:39:47+00:00

The account remains in your name. You control it, and the funds remain available until they are needed. We do not manage or hold these funds, you and your financial institution do.

Is pre-paying better than just saving?2025-08-26T19:40:16+00:00

Pre-paying locks in the cost and removes future uncertainty. Saving in a deposit account allows for more flexibility, but the cost of the funeral may rise. We’re happy to advise you on what’s most suitable for your circumstances.
